Verbo SER vs.Verbo ESTAR

In English there is only one verb: verb TO BE.
You say: "I'm a doctor" , "I'm free", "I'm in the USA", "I'm at school".
In Spanish we use the verb SER to express permanent or essencial qualities or states as name, nationality, profession, physical characteristics or permanent character conditions. So, we say: yo SOY María Marta, SOY de Argentina, SOY profesora de Español, SOY pequeña, SOY optimista.
The verb ESTAR is used to express fixed location or a transitory state. For example: yo estoy en mi casa or yo estoy triste hoy.
